I don't really know the full context or anything, so take this with a grain of salt, but
I feel like maybe he was just telling someone who's desperately clinging to past accomplishments and struggling under the pressure of trying to meet everyone's expectations to just let go and take a break.
The more famous you get, the bigger the expectations people have of you, and sometimes there are these stars or players who push themselves too hard trying to live up to that and end up burning out.
From my ignorant perspective, I thought it could be him showing concern.
