People still use the saying "repaying kindness with hostility," huh
Everyone knows what that means, so where do people even get the nerve to act like that
from the start, embezzlement of lost property requires intent to unlawfully appropriate it, and turning it in at a police station is a textbook case where the act itself shows there was no such intent
the comment is just fucking stupid
If you find something on the street, whether it’s money or trash, and try to return it to the owner, you haven’t committed misappropriation of lost property, so good OP.GG users don’t worry.
Of course, if you had even the slightest intention of keeping it for yourself, you’re absolutely screwed.
same as that story where a guy saved a woman who fell into the water, gave her CPR because she was unconscious, then got reported as a sex offender and put on trial lololol helping people just gets you fucked
honestly it might be better for her to go through this now, while her guardian can still step in and she’s protected by juvenile law even in the worst-case scenario
imagine a twenty-something who’s just starting out in the working world having this happen during their first week living independently
i think this is the smart move too
setting aside the fact that they're minors, it wouldn't be a bad idea to teach her how to respond through civil and criminal proceedings and gain some experience filtering out assholes
This is news from two years ago... More recently, I think it was a middle or high school girl who returned a wallet and even got a citizen award or something?

So Koreans don’t avoid stealing other people’s stuff because they’re nice—it’s because they’re avoiding landmines
