January 2024
People filed plagiarism complaints against Nintendo because of Palworld, and
the Pokemon Company gave an official response
In short, "Sure, I'll handle it"

But in July 2024, Palworld developer PocketFair dropped a business expansion announcement
"Palworld is teaming up with Sony Music Entertainment and Aniplex to expand the Palworld IP."
"They plan to further grow the Palworld IP through various licensing deals in the future."

Nintendo "That's crossing the line??"

I'm suing you

Seems like they're filing a patent lawsuit as a real warning. If Nintendo starts picking fights over their patents with other games, the kind of games we know would be impossible to make without Nintendo. (Nintendo actually holds a patent on the "health‑bar" system, and apparently they have dozens of such patents...)
