Yeah, for Corki to win this lane he absolutely has to dodge Orianna's Q+W, but his slow movespeed makes it tough without using Valkyrie. Problem is, Valkyrie costs 100 mana, so he's under a ton of mana pressure. On top of that, the cooldown is over 20 seconds, so if he uses Valkyrie to dodge the first Q+W, he won't have it up for the next one.
Before Hexdrinker, Orianna has a clear advantage.
After Hexdrinker, Orianna has a slight advantage, Corki has a slight advantage during his Sheen spike.
As the game goes later, Corki gets the advantage.
It depends on how well you shut Corki down in the early laning phase.
팩트만봐According to OP.GG, in Master+ games, Orianna has a 59.36% laning solo kill probability. How the hell does that translate to a 50.5% advantage or a 'even matchup'? Do you guys not know how to read data?
팩트만봐If you've played top or mid, you'd know that even a 55-to-45 laning solo kill ratio is basically considered a counter matchup. At 59.36%, it's not even close — you straight up can't play into it.. And this is in Master+.
In GM and Challenger, they already know Corki just doesn't work into Ori, so the sample size is literally 0 games. Yup. GM/Chall players know picking Corki into Ori means you're dead — there's not a single game of data.
If Ori lands QW just 2-3 times, it's pretty rough for Corki.
I saw Chovy's interview after that match—he said he'd never played the matchup as Corki before, but he went in with the mindset that if you dodge QW with W, you win.
Bottom line is Chovy just absolutely gap'd them in lane.
if ori lands qw twice, corki gets shredded and lane's over lol. but chovy just played out of his damn mind. if you watch the clip, even before red and first blood he wasn't getting pressured by orianna at all.
From what I know, Orianna has the edge in lane. Chovy probably picked Corki as a counterpick because he was confident he could dodge her skills, and he even used W to manage his health during lane phase.
While the plebs are running Fleet Footwork, Doran's Shield, and Resolve secondary, moaning around begging to be allowed to CS, this guy was running First Strike, chugging biscuits, and strapping 100 mana per pop into his Valkyrie—that thought itself is insane. And honestly, it worked pretty well too.
선사시대_유미well maybe late game sylas is better. to get to the point, orianna's lane phase is definitely not dominant; if anything, corki's stronger in lane, and orianna's probably a bit better late game.
??? if you look at the stats for master+, orianna has a 59.36% lane solokill rate??? and in gm/chall there's literally zero games where corki was picked into oriana... yeah, because high elo knows it's terrible, so they never pick him into her... and this guy spins it like it's even lmao
Anyone who's played LoL gets it lol—in mid lane, if the solo kill win rate even hits 55%, people are already calling it a counter matchup. So at 59.36%, you're basically saying the lane is over as long as you land your autos and spells.

Early game goes to Ori, late game is 100% Corki.

Orianna wins hands down

Corki gets completely shit on in lane, can't even breathe

Corki gets absolutely destroyed, can't even breathe

Based on laning alone, Corki's just total garbage...

Orianna absolutely dominates this matchup in lane

I've been playing Corki since way back, and it feels like his window to win got pushed way later compared to before. He still wins eventually, though.

Orianna naturally has the advantage early game. Chovy was just playing the laning phase like an absolute monster.

it's the kind of matchup where losing makes you look like a complete moron

Orianna wins before first back, Corki wins after first back

He'd probably lose lane, but Corki's roams are solid, so if you can make plays through roaming...

Faker's better.

Pretty even, and I'd say late game is about the same too.

In Master+ elo, Ori has a 50.5% winrate advantage. At that level, I'd say calling it even isn't wrong.
