kassadin vs nasus question

so when i lane against nasus as kass my friend says early game you can win trades easy with W but when i try to land W he just backs off and if i R in to hit it he drops his circle and the raw damage makes me lose the trade hard so does kassadin actually win trades with W? and also how to play against nasus lol
