Bros, I seriously have no idea how to play Kata

Katarina  I've been playing this champ for a while now but she's still so fking hard I see these YouTube OTPs just auto-attack trading like they're a melee bruiser from level 1, but when I try it I just get scared, can't trade at all, and end up cowering under tower Any Kata mains out there? Please help a brother out

    Trading at level 1 is usually a Conqueror Sylas kind of thing? Since you can win the trade with Q + passive + auto + Electrocute + minion aggro all combined, so it's probably an auto trade at level 1. Normally at level 1 you just Q the three melee minions, or just throw a Q from a distance. At level 1, you just Q to secure cs, or take one auto/skill from the enemy so your minions aggro onto them to pull the wave a bit. At level 2, you decide whether to trade based on the matchup. Against champs like Yone or mages where you can Q > Shunpo > auto > passive > Electrocute, and then Shunpo back to a minion or juke out to escape — those are fine trades. Normally Electrocute trading starts around level 3. The most common pattern in lane is: toss Q on minions for waveclear, and if the enemy oversteps, you Shunpo onto the Q dagger to proc Shunpo damage + passive, press W, auto during the dagger delay, juke around, pick up the W dagger to reset Shunpo, and then Shunpo out to a minion — getting a free trade where only you hit them. If they're scared but you see a trade angle, just go for the standard EWQ combo. If they're not giving any angle, you can W for movespeed, throw Q, then Shunpo to the W dagger, proc Sudden Impact and add Q damage; or Shunpo to a minion to proc Sudden Impact, throw Q at the enemy, and use W to dodge their retaliation while resetting Shunpo. At level 6, time it so you Shunpo onto a Q dagger into WR, or EWQRE — those easily set up kills. Matchups vary, but against champs Katarina can stomp, just QEW or EWQ Electrocute trade and back off. Against tough matchups, poke with Sudden Impact Q until you see a kill angle.

      Conqueror is a whole different story though. With Conqueror Kata, at level 2, you Q, Shunpo onto the dagger, proc your passive, and start autoing while chasing them down. The moment your auto damage lands, press E for an auto cancel. That lets you do an auto-E-auto for a sudden kill threat, which is pretty nice. There's also a Flash-auto-E-auto variation, but it doesn't seem that popular. Also, when you get collapsed on or when the enemy jungler ganks, if you W next to a thin wall and then hover your cursor just past the wall and Shunpo, you can hop over it—super handy for escapes. Since wall jumps also activate your passive, you can reverse that too: wait in the mid lane brush for their ADC or something to walk by, then Shunpo over the wall riding your W dagger and set up an assassination angle. From their screen, it looks like Katarina suddenly spins out of nowhere with her daggers spinning, since they couldn't even see the dagger. Generally speaking, Katarina's playstyle in lane is: if you can't completely demolish the enemy, just keep farming CS, then roam or look for skirmishes. That's the standard way to play her. So you don't really have to stress too much about laning—just take it slow, watch how your opponent plays, and adjust accordingly. That should work fine.

      대답좀Alright, breaking it down by champion: **Yone** — Katarina actually has an easy time against him. Just use EWQ or QEW, dodging his Q with your movespeed or Shunpo, and you win trades. **Sylas** — If he's running Electrocute, you're gonna feel it. Either only fight after his Electrocute is down, or poke him down with Sudden Impact Q until you see a kill angle. If he's on Conqueror, just take Electrocute yourself and you'll win the trades. **Ahri / Zoe** — Jump onto a Dagger to dodge their CC, and it's a free win. **Akali** — The moment you go in and force her Shroud, jump right back out with Shunpo. For the next 20 seconds while her Shroud's down, either hard trade or just poke with Q. **Galio** — Only fightable early, imo? Even if you're building AP Katarina, just start Doran's Blade or Long Sword early on. Auto-attack him, he won't respect the damage. **Most mages** — Just dodge their skillshots with good movement. If they give you an angle, go EWQ or QEW. If they play safe, just poke with Sudden Impact Q. **Yasuo** — If you want to beat him as Kat, the Yas has to be *way* worse than you. Honestly, just look at the matchup and if it's not happening, farm CS and wait for skirmishes or roams.
