How about a poem on a lonely day

I, personally, am very fond of poetry.——

But when I'm out with people, saying something like that usually gets me some awkward reactions.

Why is that? I think it's an image problem.

How many people have actually studied wine or sports professionally?

Probably a handful. But despite that, those two are light topics anyone can chime in on.

I think literature should be heading in the same direction.

Literature is art, and art is entertainment. And what kind of entertainment fails to appeal to the masses?

It needs to become easy and popular.

It should be a topic anyone can casually join in on, even if they know nothing about it.

The poem I'm about to share—you don't need to recite it with force.

There's no need to categorize it into forms like fixed verse or free verse.

Forget all about interpretation or intention. I just hope you enjoy it purely.

Easily Written Poem -Yoon Dong-ju

The night rain whispers outside the window, The six-mat room is a foreign land.

Knowing it's a poet's sad destiny, Still, Shall I try writing a line of verse?*

Receiving the tuition envelope you sent, Gently holding the scent of sweat and love.*

Tucking in my college notebook, I go to hear the old professor's lecture.*

Come to think of it, the friends of my youth, One by one, I've forgotten them all.

What am I looking for? Am I just sinking down, all alone?*

They say life is hard to live. That a poem is written so easily— That is a shameful thing.

The six-mat room is a foreign land. The night rain whispers outside the window.

Lighting the lamp, I chase the darkness a little away, And wait for the dawn that will come like the era.*

I offer my small hand to myself, And grasp it with tears and consolation—my first handshake.*
