Ttureong posted a preview on Twitter today. Here's the summary:

Nerf bot lane mages and roaming supports. Buff weak ADC-related items. Nerf items that ruin meta diversity like Goredrinker. Keep jungle Nasus as is, buff top Nasus. Maintain mage identity, but ease how easily ADCs die to early magic damage in regular games.

Then one brave Zac main stepped up.

What the hell are you thinking, you goddamn Ttureong? The solution is simple. Just nerf mages. This patch will end up indirectly buffing AD champions like Yasuo and Yone.

So Sunfire Aegis isn't a buff either. Overall, it's a nerf. Have a good night. But sometimes I get fucking pissed. Get the balance right.

Then Ttureong replied with an explanation. I want to keep the philosophy that ADCs are inherently a class vulnerable to burst damage. Whether it's a mage or an assassin, no matter which lane they come from, the dynamic between ADCs and burst champions should be preserved. Any numerical balance issues from this patch can be adjusted in follow-up patches. But class identity and the structural design of the game aren't changing anytime soon. Nyah.

Then Lord Vayne appeared in the explanation thread.
