Honestly, tanks being good right now is just a fact, isn't it?

Malphite, Sion, Shen, Poppy, Ornn, K'Sante... pretty much every top lane tank is a solid pick right now.

So why is it that the second you say 'tanks are good right now,' tank players lose their minds and start yelling 'then you go play them'?

    It's not that tanks are good—it's that the picks that get countered by tanks are the ones in the meta right now.. Look, Maokai, Cho'Gath, Zac are all sitting at the bottom of the tier list, K'Sante's stats are completely wrecked, Tahm Kench is trash, and Gragas and Volibear—sure you can play them if you want, but they're champs that actually need some skill to earn their pay. If you actually think top lane right now is a tank meta? That just means you're low elo and don't know how to make a tank useless..

      Maokai, Zac, Volibear, Tahm Kench are champs that also go to other lanes, so balancing them is hard, and that's why they suck. But among pure top lane tanks, there really aren't any bad picks (and Cho'Gath isn't a champ).

      따끔한_퍼리so it's not that tanks are good, it's that the champs in the current meta just have high base power the malphite and shen that are dominating right now are just counterpicks meant to eat the high-pickrate irelia and yone, so of course their stats are inflated. if someone told you to blind pick a tank right now there's really nothing you'd comfortably lock in gragas fell off after they removed phase rush, ksante got hit with the doran's shield and e nerfs at the same time so he feels rough too, sion got indirectly nerfed by the aatrox buffs, and the only one left is ornn who still requires mechanics to be useful it's not that tanks are meta because they're strong in a vacuum — it's that the strong champs right now happen to be structurally weak into tanks, dragging them up with them. the actual power level of tanks is nowhere near that high, they have no items and are half-broken honestly

      rhdy"You need mechanics" my ass. So Irelia, Yone, and Aatrox, the champions top lane tank players hate the most — can you play those without mechanics? When we're talking about whether a champ is good or not, you obviously assume the player has some basic level of skill.

    damage dealers are dead set on only building damage items so they're full glass cannons but tank slammers only build tank items, don't even die, and still think it's natural that they deal some damage lol

    the meta itself is just way too garbage for tanks tbh i don't even play tanks to begin with but right now there's literally no reason to pick one the whole point of top lane tanks is the mindset of picking a tank and just sitting back, but the current meta doesn't let you sit back at all so you just get all cs and lane priority taken away, and then you end up in a situation where you have to draw the enemy jungler's attention yourself after laning phase, since you're not fed, you should be rotating to side lanes to get gold and keep scaling, but because you're a tank champ, you can't even properly solo side lane, and your original role goes to shit the one who's supposed to be the one getting bullied ends up just getting bullied with zero payoff and becomes total garbage might as well play a strong lane, let the enemy jungler use their time elsewhere it's way better for top to just take lane priority or side lane and do their own thing

      thinking about it, the only tanks that even see play right now are k'sante who can get lane priority, or sion who can farm up and scale from side lanes or overfarm so yeah, tanks are in a complete dark age rn
