That's just something every bruiser goes through so it can't be helped. It just comes down to whether the team comp gives you enough room to actually do something.
If you build Profane Hydra and Edge of Night, his laning is strong, his sidelining is strong, and his teamfighting is strong too;;
He feels almost like Yorick tier.
Personally, I think there's a bit of a power creep issue going on.

He does feel a bit clunky compared to the newer champs. I think his raw stats are still the same though?
