was in a flex queue yesterday and ran into a Diana one-trick. first game I picked Cass and won, but then they banned Cass and I went Ryze and got absolutely destroyed... idk what to do every time I see Diana, should I just pick something like mid Sion?

There are a few options, but first off, standing mages are all completely wiped out. As for Ryze, if you know the matchup, you can go even and start winning after you finish RoA. I'll write it out below in a champ vs Diana format. 1. Ryze vs Diana Normally in this matchup, you want to dodge her first Q. If you can't dodge it, just last-hit the 3 melees and keep the lane even. Once you both hit level 2, if you see her trying to engage, stay positioned among your ranged minions. Try to dodge her Q by moving forward into its range — yes, inside its range — then sidestep it. If she does land it, immediately step backward while using E-W-auto, making her think she can chase you through your 3 ranged minions + a few melees + your Phase Rush autos while you keep kiting. After level 3, she gets her W shield to absorb damage. If she has Phase Rush, when she engages, you can do Q-E-W-auto-Q and then step back (trading autos is pointless starting level 3 since Diana wins those anyway). If Diana doesn't take Phase Rush: Q-E-Q while backing up slightly. When she tries to disengage, slow her with W, then E-Q and auto with Phase Rush to chase. Keep doing this little dance until you finish Rod of Ages and Tear, then you win trades with this pattern. But it's super tedious and tricky, right? So there are easier methods. 2. Sett vs Diana In this matchup, if Sett has hands, he literally cannot lose to Diana. Just rush Mercury's Treads. When she engages, E-Q-Q. Want to trade more? Use W. That alone wins the trade for Sett (against champs that come to you — excluding weird cases like Volibear or Jax — Sett wins most all-ins). 3. This is my personal pick: Jarvan IV vs Diana When Diana engages, stay on Q — hold your first charge. When she tries to escape, E-Q knockup + second Q, then W-auto (the reason you use W before the auto is to chain it with the knockup). Grab a Negatron Cloak early and build the rest as usual — Jarvan wins this. 4. You all know this already, right? No need to explain mid Irelia — just beat the hell out of her.
