It's basically a Chinese song that's been popping up on Shorts a lot lately, and the original is apparently a Chinese folk song called Midu Shange Here are the lyrics to Midu Shange:
山對山來崖對崖 (Mountain faces mountain, cliff faces cliff)<>
(Bees cross the ridge to gather nectar)<>
(Bees are meant to die for the flowers)<>
(And this young man has come for his lady)<>
(Mountain faces mountain, rock faces rock)<>
(Bees cross the ridge to gather nectar)<>
(Even the swallows on the beam are paired up)<>
(How could my lady walk this path alone?)<>
Here's a rough summary of the story: In an era when women weren't allowed to study, a father disguises his daughter as a boy and secretly sends her to school. She falls in love with a man she stays with at the dorms and they promise to marry, but when she returns home, an arranged marriage is already set for her. To make matters worse, the man she loved actually dies. On her wedding day, while passing by her lover's grave in a sedan chair, a storm breaks out and the ground splits open. The woman falls into the crack and dies, then the storm miraculously stops and the two are reincarnated as butterflies and fly away together.
As expected from the land of Li Bai and Du Fu, it's a masterpiece that uses that 7-character rhyme scheme perfectly.
Seriously... you guys are so good when you stick to your own stuff, so why do you keep trying to claim other people's culture as yours...
