top CAN blind pick if we gotta — jayce is the best card for that, yeah i'll do it if asked. but is there any role that can fit the comp as well as top? at most it's jungle
ok fine say we luck out, pick jayce, and comp works out. jayce needs mechanics yeah but he's also a champ that needs the jungler to watch his back. but do junglers ever watch top's back? nah they don't give a shit about top, they're off farming their own shit or ganking mid/bot
sure there are times you blind pick something other than jayce. but if you blind pick something else you get counterpicked even harder, the enemy top turns into a monster, and then it's "top gap" this and "wtf top diff" that. here's the thing most non-top players don't get — when you die 1v1 in a bad matchup, it's cuz you TRIED to resist. if you really wanna not die, you WON'T die. but then you give up 30 cs, give up prio, give up tower, give up side lane prio, give up everything... and oh look? HUGE top gap huh? insane rotation difference huh? teamfight impact is on a whole other level right? but nobody cares about what caused that. they just go "top diff"

And how many people actually do that? There's a ton of tops who you give counterpick to and they still don't build around the comp. Hell, even with counterpick they lose lane, okay fine you can lose. But then what about when they get counterpick and blow their jungler's time? Constantly like 'bro I'm counterpick, I picked this for you guys, you gotta come to me'. There's a ton of people like that. Honestly in League, the ones who're gonna win just win, and the ones who're gonna lose just lose. Everything you said is just a part of it. And by your logic, what about support? The enemy supp picked Thresh so you gotta take Blitz. Your team has no engage? Then you gotta pick something that engages. Your argument basically works for every role.

It's not like the only reason is laning phase, though. Looking at people who freak out over red side counterpick, it's just 'cause they're completely obsessed with laning. "Lane bully" didn't become a common term for no reason, you know.

Most of the time people complain is when you get counterpick and still go 0/3/0 getting destroyed in a 1v1 lane. Other cases nobody says shit. I hate seeing people whip out the 'first pick immunity' card, but whatever, I get it from a human empathy angle. But when you get counterpick AND still feed your ass off, that's when they lose their minds. And what the hell does having low impact or not getting jungler attention have to do with losing a 1v1 lane?
