That hit me hard, so the next day I put a plan together.
Equipment: a smurf account and a double XP boost.
I dumped the entire weekend into it. Hit level 30 in two days, then inted 10 games in a row to land in Bronze 4. Then I climbed out with an 80% win rate without much trouble.
But......... I seriously felt the real power of Bronze/Silver/Gold firsthand.
What my friend said while drunk — "This is hell! You'll never get out!" — was at least somewhat true. Refusing to fill, raging at the jungler, that's expected. But the worst problem is the fucking ego... Especially once you hit Silver, people start getting this ridiculous rank pride. Some 1/5/2 player will start barking orders, and just because they're the only Silver on the team, they'll tell their teammates shit like "That's why you're Bronze"...
The most serious issue: I was climbing as a jungler. I'd feed a few kills to my laners, and then they'd think they're hot shit and start flaming the teammates who aren't doing as well...
That's when my friend's words came back to me.
Seriously, to anyone who actually climbed out of Bronze/Silver/Gold on their own — I salute you. You guys at least have the mental fortitude of a Diamond player...
