A top lane champion like Galio

I'm a top lane main, and the champions I have the highest win rates on are Galio and Kassadin, but only when I have to play mid. The thing is, the only mid laners I can play are Galio and Kassadin. I honestly think the heart of the mid lane is assassins like Zed or Katarina, but I don't know how to play any assassins mid, so I don't really want to switch to mid. Is there a top lane champion that can deal good damage and has AoE CC like Galio?
