Random PC Bang story I just remembered

Back in Season 5, my home PC was trash so I used to hit the PC bang alone every day before enlisting.

At the time I was Diamond 3, around 80 LP. From what I remember, that put me in the top 6000 or so. Like 0.3%?

Anyway, I'm in the corner grinding League by myself when this group of what looked like freshmen high schoolers—five of them—plop down next to me in a row. Seats went HS1, HS2, HS3, HS4, HS5, me, wall, aisle, something like that. I was in the middle of a ranked game playing Xerath.

Then the kid right next to me, who must've had the highest rank in that group, kept glancing at my screen and said: HS kid: "Hey, let me show you how Xerath is really played."

So he locks in Xerath in their 5-man queue. I was like "uh okay" and just finished my game, ended up winning first. Then I queued up again—this time I picked Nidalee.

Soon after, the high schoolers finish their game and queue up again too. The kid beside me keeps sneaking peeks at my screen and goes: HS kid: "Hey, let me show you how Nidalee is really played. I'll show you some Platinum level gameplay."

Guess he just hit Plat. The other kids were all like "Yeah man, show us that Plat skill, carry us!"

And every time he said something it was "Yo, you see this Plat Nidalee? THIS is Platinum right here," just constantly emphasizing the word "Plat" while looking at my screen.

That's when it hit me—oh, he's trying to flex on me. But I also just figured he was stoked about finally making Platinum. I didn't pay it any mind and just won my game anyway.

After that game ended, I left the client open on the lobby screen and went to take a piss.

Came back from the bathroom after shaking it off, and what do I see? The whole group of high schoolers and the kid next to me are huddled around my lobby screen.

Then me and the kid next to me make eye contact. He looks away quick with this deer-in-headlights look. Like, "oh shit, what have I done" face, lmao. I sat back down and realized they must've seen my rank and LP.

I was probably at Diamond 3, 70 LP or something. From then on I heard the group of high schoolers—both the ones who were watching and the ones in his 5-man—whispering: "Yo, this guy's Diamond. He's Diamond 3."

After that, the Platinum kid next to me didn't say a single word the rest of the time. Just played quietly, checking my screen every now and then. His face looked like a deflated balloon, like a kid who'd been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. It was pretty funny lol.

TL;DR:

Before enlistment, playing League at a PC bang. Highest-ranked kid in a group of high schoolers sits next to me, copies my champ picks the whole time while bragging about his own rank. Then he sees my rank and instantly shuts the fuck up.

Just randomly remembered this and felt like writing it down.
