30 games of only Nunu in URF — yeah, Nunu's actually a disaster lol

Nunu & Willump
Writing this as a URF Nunu "otp" (not really an otp) lol So here's my match history — if you wanna win URF, picking Nunu is the answer. I honestly think he's the champ that gives you both fun and freelo. Even if the rest of my team all ints their asses off, I can still hard carry by the scruff of their necks.

Below are my thoughts, builds, and gameplay patterns from playing Nunu.

[Skills] ----------------------- In URF, Nunu's E — or should I say the snowball velocity — is insanely fast. E has a slow plus an AoE root.

You absolutely have to take E at level 1 (some people take W sometimes — don't do that). After that I max E first, and I usually skip putting points into W (Nunu in URF relies so much on E that you need to prioritize it and widen the gap).

So the order is E -> Q -> W max (when ult levels up, take ult). ----------------------- [Runes]

image.png I've tried a ton of different setups, and honestly Electrocute is the best most of the time. Arcane Comet often ends before you can milk it, and since Nunu wants to snowball early, not recommended.

image.png That said, it's not always Electrocute — if the enemy team has a lot of tanks, just take Conqueror.

And secondary runes: Sorcery is locked in, and Scorch is locked in too. image.png Basically you can assume it looks like this. +Summoners: Flash + (Ignite or Exhaust) image.png This case is for when the enemy is squishy but has good escape tools. +Summoners: Flash + Ghost

[Stats] image.png These are set in stone.

[Items] Stormrazor ->Shadowflame ->Rabadon's Deathcap These are mandatory (1st, 2nd, 3rd core item). The rest is up to preference and how the game goes.

[Bans] Vi Pantheon Against these two you'll never win even if you wake up from the dead (well, it's really hard to win). Pantheon in particular is a real pain in the ass. (I play Pantheon in URF almost as much as Nunu — nearly 20 games — and I've won every single 1v1 against a Nunu, and when I'm on Nunu, Pantheon is the one that gives me trouble.)

But should you ban both of them? Nah. Honestly bans are preference-based, so just ban whatever's cancer to play against. Because people like me in low elo are the only ones playing Pantheon or Vi; most people don't really pick them.

Great read! Mind if I ask a few questions? 1. Is there a reason you go Bloodline in the Precision tree with Conqueror? Bloodline only gives lifesteal from basic attacks or skills that count as basic attacks (like Urgot W, Ezreal Q, etc.), and Nunu doesn't have any on-hit skills. Is there a special reason for taking it? I'm curious if it's just for the 85 bonus HP from the rune shard. 2. Is there a reason Transcendence is locked in as your secondary? Ability Haste has diminishing returns the more you stack it, and URF already starts you with 300 AH, so adding an extra 10 seems super inefficient. And the 20% basic ability cooldown refund on takedowns at level 11—20% of an already tiny URF cooldown would barely save you 0.1 seconds. Is there a reason it's a staple? Or does that 20% cooldown reduction bypass Ability Haste and work as a separate multiplier? Also, do you literally never put a point in W until level 13? Or do you put 1 point in it earlier?

    1. I mean, Tenacity is nice and all, but if I'm going Conqueror it's because the enemy team has tanks, and in those games you're pretty much always gonna be in melee range trading autos. So even if it's just a little bit of lifesteal and HP, I'd rather take that than nothing. Oh, and in the post I said I almost always go Ultimate Hunter, but honestly I go Celerity way more often — especially when I’m up against a bunch of squishy burst champs who usually have at least one dash or some form of CC. I tossed in Ultimate Hunter because in those mirror Nunu vs Nunu matchups or games where both sides are pretty evenly scaled, I’ve found that it actually wins me the fight more often than you’d think. As for W, it depends on the situation, but yeah, most of the time I don’t put a point into it until level 13. (When you get on top of them, your E already has a slow and a root, so W isn’t really needed most of the time.) Plus, I usually go Celerity or take Ghost/Exhaust for the movespeed, so I’d rather dump the points into E and Q instead. And honestly, Nunu’s W is way too easy to dodge anyway, that’s also part of it.
